About

curtisattable.jpgI’m Curtis (email: runningdaily@gmaildotcom) and I’m a 28 year old in the greater Houston, Texas area who loves running. I enjoy running in ultramarathons but it wasn’t always this way…

I began running with my mom when I was about 11 years old. This was after I kicked a little butt in running the 4th and 5th grade mile that the gym class required. I was in a bad car wreck when I was 12 which collapsed a lung and hindered my competitive running for good.

Instead of worrying about it, I wanted to get back in my Sauconys and run as soon as I was out of the hospital. Starting around the age of 12, I ran 2 or 3 miles a day. I started to compete with a local track club where I went to the Junior Olympics a few times in the grand sport of racewalking. I never ran cross country or track in high school but I continued to run for hobby.

That pretty much leads up to today. I enjoy running (the further, the better), riding mountain bikes, mountain climbing, camping, trail running, kayaking, and canoing. In the future, I hope to run a 50m, 100 mile, and a 24 hour run (over 100 miles goal) to see what I’m capable of doing. Oh, and I’m certainly just an average guy, but I believe everyone can do this if they try.

Where I have run: Kansas, Texas, Virginia, D.C., Las Vegas, California, and North Carolina.

Races I have completed:

1996 Wichita River Run — 2M (Wichita, KS)

Curtis,

Nice site.

We have run some of the same runs. I have run RR 25K in 06 & 07. I also ran the El Scorcho.

I noticed you had run the Lone Star Trail. How would you compare that run to the RR? I am considering running the LS 50K in March, but the few posted times that I am finding seem to be much slower than RR 50K.

Thanks

Hi Curtis,

Congratulations on your running habit and goals! I work with nuun (thanks for the mention) and also Bridgedale socks, should you want to give them a try…do give me a shout.

Curt,
You popped up in a google search. Been a long time since our high school days! Shoot me a quick email offline (my email should have come through with the comment), and we can get caught up! Looking forward to it. Run a ways for me.

Curt-
I remember a few days after you got out of the hospital and my mom and I came to the house! I was on crutches after screwing up my ankle for the ump-teenth time and you were still recovering. We annoyed our mothers enough that they finally sent us outside. We raced back and forth from one side of the yard to the other until our mothers came outside and yelled at us to stop! You never gave up running!
